Our Vision
“If we are to solve big problems like climate change, waste and pollution, embracing the emergence of alternative practices and technologies will be crucial.”
Timber is the single most renewable and sustainable building material available. But there is a major roadblock to its use: there is simply not enough. This is caused in part by the very slow natural growing process of trees, of course, but also the very important increase in legislation to protect our native forests.
How do we find the balance between protecting our natural biodiversity areas and fulfilling the demand for the most regenerative and sustainable building material?
We believe we are part of the solution.
Technology, circular economy and sustainability
Our technology allows us to convert low-value pulp logs generally destined for wood chips into appearance grade timbers that sport the look, texture and properties of 100-year-old trees. You can read all about this pioneering technology here. By doing so we can fulfil the demand for sustainable, low-carbon, toxin-free building materials without compromising our native forests and precious biodiversity areas.
The use of emerging technologies is not a magic wand for addressing all our ecological challenges, but we believe it is a promising tool for supporting the transition from linear globalised economies, focused on rapid production and distribution of goods at low costs, to circular economies that focus on a better use of resources and environmental regeneration.
Shifting to circular economies will require not only huge ambition but concerted action at every level of business and society. And all of that starts by bringing to life the vision of a better future and making it tangible.
Together we can make a difference.
